At the Security Officer Career College (SOCC) we continue to enhance the service offerings to include advanced learning opportunities, including online training for all employees in business, healthcare, education and government who are engaged at some level in activities that have a security or safety application.

Training opportunities are available:

• for all levels of employees engaged in the security guard industry who have active interaction with their client base.
• for businesses that employ in house security staff for the protection of assets from loss and people from harm.
• for employees that require a knowledge regarding a specific security or safety related subject.
• for employees engaged in junior and senior management positions in the security industry.

SOCC was incorporated in Edmonton, Alberta in 1985 and registered as a private Vocational College through Alberta Advanced Education. In 1994, the College was granted Class A status by Alberta Advanced Education.

The College was established in recognition of the need to ensure that individuals entering the security profession were provided appropriate security training prior to their employment as security guards.

In 1987 a training program for delivery to the aboriginal community was developed. That initial program has been the model for providing security training to a number of aboriginal groups throughout Alberta. These training programs continue to be delivered.

SOCC is the exclusive provider of training services to United Protection Services Inc.; an Alberta based security guard company with recent expansion into remote video monitoring.

To date SOCC has certified over 3000 students with 600 of those being of aboriginal ancestry.
